Dreams: Birds

Birds are generally very complex dream symbols which can bear various interpretations depending on the particular situation appearing in a dream. For instance, if you dream about birds which are happily flying in the sky or chirping on the branches of trees, this announces many happy moments to come in your life, harmony and emotional balance, fortune and good luck, prosperous enterprises and fulfilled personal life. Seeing birds flying in an azure sky announces freedom from all constraint, spiritual and psychological liberty and self-confidence.

Seeing birds hatching in your dream announces great success in business and undertakings, but you are going to wait for it for a while, as it will not be a quick success. On the other hand, seeing eggs of a bird in your dream is a good omen which foretells considerable wealth and richness.

If birds happily chirping or flying are a good omen, the reverse stands for troubles, worries and dark periods in your life. Consequently, if you see wounded, dead or dying birds in your dream you should prepare yourself for unhappy events to occur in your life soon.

According to the famous psychiatrist Carl Gustave Jung who explored the world of religion, philosophy, dream, art and mythology, birds as dream symbols designate your thoughts. For instance, seeing birds flying in a dream represents the changing thoughts and ideas of that particular individual.
The bird may also be seen as one of the major symbols for human soul. Therefore, seeing birds in flight represents our supreme wish to aspire to the Divine. On the other hand, hungry, captured, wounded, dead, dying birds or seeing birds in a cage stands for sorrow and affliction.
