By definition, the circle is the geometrical shape standing for perfection and flawless achievements. This is why when we get married a circular wedding ring is put on our left-hand finger, this is why the crown of kings has a circular shape and so on. During ancient times, the Circle was praised as an omnipotent and all-embracing shape, being represented in the form of a snake which swallows its own tail. This mythological and religious symbol was known as 'the ouroboros' and stood for completion, continual cycles, primordial unity and harmony. Most ancient civilizations also considered that the circle represented the spiritual Wheel of Life and the ultimate cosmic order which binded the Universe together.
In conclusion, the circle stands for wholeness, completion, great achievements and accomplishments, but also for continuity and infinity. It may be seen as an illustration of the never-ending cycle of life and death, the cycle of water in nature etc.
