Dreams: Dove

This fragile bird is the universal symbol of peace and if you see doves mating or building their nests in your dream, then you will experience happiness, harmony, equilibrium in your life. Doves may also represent your strong desire and need for love and tranquility.

A white dove is a positive omen standing for true friends, loyalty and also a happy, fulfilled domestic life without frequent quarrels or conflicts.

A flight of doves flying in the sky foretells happy events and joyful times to occur in all aspects of your life - your love affair is based on trust, fidelity and true love, while your enterprises and businesses are very prosperous.

A dove may also appear in your dream to metaphorically stand for your traits of character - denoting gentleness, innocence and a good heart.

If you hear the sad cooing of a lonely dove in your dream, this is a bad omen which announces the poor health or death of a loved one, friend or family. As long as the cooing of the doves is not caused by exterior stimuli, it may also stand for your conflicts with friends or family. Also, dead or dying doves symbolize domestic problems and the end of a love affair or marriage mainly due to the infidelity of one of the partners.

If you catch and keep in captivity or if you kill a dove in your dream you will experience many conflicts in the waking life, as you have metaphorically 'killed' the unity and harmony symbolized by doves. You will lose good friends due to repeated quarrels with them.

To see a dovecote full of doves in your dream is a good omen which symbolizes abundance and plenitude. On the other hand, an empty dovecote stands for melancholy, loneliness and inner bareness.

If in your dream a dove brings you a letter which comprises good news about friends who live far from you, a reconciliation with someone dear to you will take place soon. The reconciliation with a close friend or your lover will be a long-term one. However, if the dove which brings the good news letter is exhausted, this means that it would be quite difficult to reconcile with that particular person, but it will be worth the effort.

If the dove brings you a letter from which you learn bad news, then an unhappy event will take place in your life, such as a significant drop in your business, or people whom you love will experience some serious problems of any nature.
