Dreams: Elephant

The elephant, like almost all animals who appear in our dreams, illustrates our inner self as well as our traits of character. The large proportions of the elephant constitute one of the most pregnant features that 'catch the eye' and come to our mind when thinking about this animal - therefore, if an elephant appears in your dreams, its image speaks about your strength and endurance and also about your ability to deal with difficult problems and get over any kind of situation which may arise in your life.

At the same time, the image if the elephant is many times associated with that of maternity, as the mother elephant caresses and takes care of her cubs. If in your dreams you see such an image, then you need to receive attention and protection from your parents and family. Or the vice-versa, you feel the urge to take care, guide and protect the ones around you without asking anything in exchange. It is in your nature to comfort and stand by people you love whenever they need help.

The introvert nature of the elephant is also widely acknowledged. This may point to your own nature and the image of the elephant may be seen as an advice that you should become more extrovert, communicate and socialize more.

If you are a restless person and do not find your place in the society, then the elephant appearing in your dream is a sign that you should try to calm down, relax, analyze things as objectively as possible and 'draw' in your mind leading guidelines for your life and actions. Take the example of the elephant, which is one of the most patient animals and enhance your personal qualities.

If the elephant in your dream is friendly and seen in a positive conjecture, then it announces fortune, happy events and good times which will follow in your life. You are going to be successful in anything you undertake or engage in, consequently you should get involved in the business you were considering etc.

Riding an elephant also bears a positive meaning, as it is connected with your ability to control your inmost primitive desires by using your intellect.

Seeing the elephant performing at the circus is also a positive dream, as it speaks a fulfilled life in which you are surrounded by happy people who care about you and wish you the best. This also announces your success if entering a business.

The elephant appears in a dream also to symbolize the sexuality, mainly when this is related to hidden sexual desires or sexual frustration. The trunk of the elephant is most of the times connected with the sexual desire. Taking into account the fact that the elephant has one of the longest phallus (about 1,20 m), when the animal populates the dreams of a woman it may represent her deep wish to have sexual intercourse. On the other hand, when the elephant appears in the dream of a man it may be considered a sexual symbol for man's sexual frustration.
