Brown and gray are both neutral colors, but brown is considered a warm neutral color, while gray is considered a cold neutral one.

Gray is a color found half-way between the two non-colors, black and white. Therefore, its symbolism is closely connected to something that has no solid ground, within no well-defined boarders, something in-between. Gray as the dominant hue in a dream may stand as a metaphor for one's indifference, ignorance, cold and uncaring nature. The cold neutral color may also represent unsteadiness and one's reluctance to commit or get involved in situations, relationships etc. which require too many skills, resources and much time to be spent.
