The vigorous, powerful and prominent Dragon – The born monarch, the 'master of ceremonies'
"Citius, Altius, Fortius (Faster, Higher, Stronger)" - motto engraved on the main entrance to the Ancient Olympic Games
Personality: People born in the year of the Dragon resemble in many ways the fierce and powerful mythical animal from which the present sign bears its name. They are proud, clever and quick-witted, courageous and daring, self-confident, strong and authoritative. And indeed they do represent an authority, because they are born to lead the others and be 'masters of all ceremonies.' According to the Chinese beliefs, babies born in the year of the Dragon are the most fortunate of all signs in the Zodiac, because they naturally come into this world with the 'spirit of the ultimate ruler' deeply sown into their psyche. Inner force oozes out of every pore of these dynamic, ambitious, persistent, dauntless and very impressive individuals! If we were to go with the Latin saying 'mens sana in corpore sano', then we have to give to the Cesar what belongs to the Caesar - Dragons have an active mind dwelling in a more-than-active body. This must not be viewed exclusively from the medical point of view, as it goes beyond physical and mental health and mainly refers to the overall personality of Dragons. They are quick-witted and their brilliant mind will get them out of any crisis period and will help them find solutions to any problems, as difficult as they may be. Accordingly, this keen mind of theirs finds adobe in a strong, energetic and tireless body. Dragons do not find comfort in serene, calm lives - they have to be always on the run, always involved in something and always taking action about one thing or another. As great as this may sound for Rabbits, Sheep (Goats) or even Dogs, indulging in a peaceful and quiet lifestyle it's so not like Dragons. These idealist, extrovert, talkative and highly sociable individuals treasure excitement and first-hand experience - however, not being completely blinded by the adrenaline pumping faster and faster in their veins like Tigers, for instance. One of the paradoxes which characterize dragons is that they are very much into adventurous and challenging situations, but as long as they can deal with them rather easily when they want to. In other words, they ironically like risks which are not too 'risky', they like jeopardy as long as it is not dangerous, they are spontaneous and would go ahead gambling all on a turn of a card, if the card is the winning one. But a bit of spice and flavor - just a little bit, to be clear - must be added to a Dragon's life, or else he will grow bored by a monotonous situation and move on towards more hectic horizons. Their independent and tireless nature asks for an ounce of excitement in a pound of cautiousness, an ounce of chaos in a neat and ordered life, an ounce of spontaneity and free-spiritedness in an ocean of deliberation. Even though very ambitious and persevering once they got involved in any kind of activity/ project/ undertaking/ business etc., highly idealistic and dreaming big dreams, Dragons may leave it incomplete and abandon it when half way there for a more captivating and challenging one. The grander and 'more' outstanding - because with Dragons even the adjective 'perfect' has a comparison degree -, the more interesting the new project. The robust personality of the Dragon makes this gifted individual very self-confident, to the point of megalomania, and inflexible when it comes to evaluating his own skills and abilities - he is the fittest for any type of activity, job, undertaking etc. and he definitely must give instructions and orders to the others. It is just as simple as that - no further comments, questions, doubts - and Dragons feel no need to explain this to the others, as it must be implicitly known. Dragons see themselves as one of the best specimens who have ever walked on Earth and from here frequently derives their superiority complex - they are the masters and that is beyond debate. One of the major downsides of people born in the year of the Dragon lies in their exaggerated arrogance fueled by the autocratic pride they naturally possess. The bloated amour propre of Dragons transforms them into conceited and vain people, to the point of becoming megalomaniac. It is impossible not to remark that an individual born under the influence of the omnipotent mythological animal is a real show-off. This is why Dragons will have an army of admirers to follow them wherever they would go, as they are so impressive, powerful and influential. Even if being looked up to and even worshiped tickles their ears and incommensurable ego, the bad news is that Dragons only have a few real friends who will be there for them through thin also and not only through thick. Have you ever met a submissive, humble Dragon, one who would be tolerant of your point of view or to follow one's orders without a murmur? I bet you haven't and you never will from now on! The concepts of 'modesty', 'humility' and the tremendous personality of a Dragon are completely opposed terms which should not even be mentioned in the same sentence - however, if one dares to do this (like I insolently did here!), it must be seen only as an oxymoron (figure of speech consisting in the association of contradictory terms in order to emphasize one of them.) To see a Dragon admitting that he was wrong (even if he knows he failed in a certain action) would be like turning the world upside down. Such individuals will always walk tall and keep a stiff upper lip. Even if highly exigent and critical with the others, they will always be very self-indulgent. They are extremely egotistical and also endowed with a flamboyant and pompous personality. In fact, everything about Dragons is simply bombastic - from their boastfulness to their exaggerated pride, from their quixotic dreams to the luxury they love to spend their lives in and the exorbitant sums of money they like to spend. People born in the year of the Dragon are also highly snobbish and somehow shallow - they are deeply impressed with and slavishly admire bling-blings, from money and wealth to fame and high social status. Indeed do they have a tendency towards superficiality and most of the times stop seeking for the bulk of the iceberg once they have found its tip. However, 'not all that glitters is gold', ladies and gentlemen, therefore try to take a closer look at things and do not let yourselves blinded by their shiny 'surface'. Dragons' cleverness and ingenuity is not related to cunningness or slyness, because these are straightforward and brutally honest individuals. Unlike Rats or even Hares (Rabbits), whose brightness is usually mixed with a guileful mind and a bit of hypocrisy, ready to make use of any Machiavellian strategies when the case just to achieve all their goals, individuals born under the sign of the Dragon are outspoken and too rough and clumsy to make use of 'diplomatic' intrigues. Truth to be said, Dragon people are too hot-blooded to make good diplomats or even liars - they just can't hide their reactions behind a mask of indifference, try as they might. Once you have accepted - and it is impossible not to give in to their powerful and highly influential personality - the authority and dominance of a Dragon, do not be afraid that they will act like cruel and inexpiable monarchs. They are tolerant, indulgent and clement with those whom they lead, including employees when they are in positions of power. Therefore, the fiery Dragons are not merciless, after all. They may even be compassionate and sensitive to others' problems, but do not dare to argue against or offend a Dragon, because only then you will face hell on Earth - when mad, these individuals flash fire exactly like the almighty mythical animal under the influence of which they have been born. Very quick-tempered and hot-blooded, the Dragon will explode and use every single possibility at hand to prove you wrong, make you feel miserable and regret the nerve and insolence of a moment. Due to their credo that they are born to be the masters of ceremonies and be the leaders of all the others, people born in the year of the Dragon become envious, spiteful and malicious when losing a competition of any kind in favor of somebody else. As long as you do not offend Dragons in anyway, they are very friendly, sympathetic and supportive - but when you offend them, you are as good as over! As a rule, they hold a grudge against anyone who has done them wrong and they are not at all forgiving or indulgent with those who have hurt their feelings. Furthermore, the disdain and rejection they develop against such individuals is not only an impulse of the moment and it won't vanish as quickly as it has come - you may die and come to life again and they'll still resent you! However, Dragons should not be seen as rigid, impenetrable individuals with petrified hearts. They can be highly generous, kind, compassionate and affectionate with those they care for. Even if the road to their hearts is steep and toilsome, once you are there you can rely on the Dragon friend to help and support you. Of course, you still have to praise his power and look up to him, but you can be sure that he will instantly get you out of trouble the next second they found you have a problem you are not able to handle on your own. If you think it is worth it - and indeed it is - you should give it a try and overcome all obstacles, eliminate all burdens up to conquering a Dragon's heart. Just be sure you never disapprove or offend him, because this usually results in a fight which ends any amiable relations with such a forceful and proud person. The Dragon and Love Dragons are the rebellious children of love - their inborn charm and charisma mixed with physical attractiveness and allurement gather an army of admirers around the vigorous and energetic young Dragon. However, no matter how many hearts will beat for them and how many profound sighs they hear, caused by unfulfilled love of which they are the cause, Dragons will turn a deaf ear to all of them, especially when in their youth. Not because they are wicked at heart, but simply because they do not care. The hunger for power that people born under the influence of this mythological animal feel at an early age, blended with an acute sense of freedom, makes them irresistible but yet not at all interested to take part in the game of love. They would rather start a business or strive to climb up and reach the top of the social ladder than go out on a date or get caught in the Chinese-puzzle-like web of love. When in their youth and early adulthood, Dragons are continually fed by their ardent wish to become the most powerful and are ignorant of their 'softer' side. To put it roughly, they could not care less about seeking for and finding an emotional balance, especially because for them general life equilibrium mainly relates to being influent and in a position of leadership. They do not know what pain or sufferance, melancholy or nostalgia is because the very idea of loss which causes all the before mentioned emotions is automatically connected within their minds with a decline in authority, success or influence. Though very attractive and charming, they are not at all preoccupied about meeting their soul-mate and about social relations in general, as long as these do not concern meeting people who may help them gain even more power (such as propelling them in their career, for instance). Indifferent to any kind of relationship except for business ones, but surrounded by an aura of mystery, grandeur and force, the Dragon will be a heart-breaker and will leave many victims fall behind. But he will not at once look back and pity them, because they take it as a sign of weakness which is not needed in a world ruled by the 'law of the jungle', where only the strongest and fittest survive. However, it would be very wrong to think that these individuals like spending their spare time within the quiet four walls of their homes. When it comes to partying, Dragons are very fond of conviviality and merry-making and they do not have second thoughts about painting the town red one night, simply because they love attention and admiration. Of course, this happens when they do not have more important business to take care of, such as planning a project to advance in their career. And indeed, wherever they will go, Dragons are the soul of the party and steal everyone else's thunder. When they enter a room everybody starts simmering and when they start talking everybody keeps quiet and listens to what they have to say. As lovers, Dragons are great - 'full of beans', playful and dynamic, highly imaginative and fiery in what concerns the technique of 'boudoir relations.' After a night spent with a Dragon, one is satisfied and exhausted, because these individuals know all the right moves and tricks of physical love. But if you wait for romance, sensitivity and a warm touch, you may have chosen the wrong person. Overall, Dragons see intimate relations as a business like any other, which they must master. They do not cheat, but they are on a constant pursue of novelty and this is why they may leave you for more captivating 'sites'. As well as in everyday life, in the sack too, they must be the leaders and the most powerful. They will never accept being ordered about or playing the 'victim' - they boss the show, any type of show, and you either play by their rules or you are free to leave it. If you are impressive and captivating enough to convince a Dragon to settle down and stick to a long-term love relationship, you must know that the 'show' is not over yet. In fact, it will never be, as you must bring salt and pepper to a relation with a Dragon if you really want it to last. Monotony and lack of events will only bore him and do not be surprised if you will be left one day without any words of goodbye - he has gone towards more exciting horizons, to conquer another 'territory'. |
