Horse (6th of October, 2008)

By Alexandra Lupu

The energetic, industrious, witty and hot-blooded Horse – the hard-working born person

"You can do anything if you have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes rise to the stars. With it, there is accomplishment. Without it there are only alibis."

Henry Ford

Personality: People born in the year of the Horse in Chinese Astrology bear many of their characteristics from this rakish, brisk and wanton animal. Exactly like the lovely and playful horse we often admire while gracefully frolicking and skipping over the pastures, individuals born under its influence are alluring, dynamic, free-spirited and spontaneous. Along with the Tiger and unlike Rabbits or Sheep, a Horse is restless, energetic and always looking for new adventures and first-hand experiences. His joie de vivre (joy of life) is tremendous and boundless and makes him a welcome, delightful and 'shiny' presence wherever he would go. He is also impatient, impulsive and very enthusiastic.

The rebellious child of the Chinese 'menagerie', the Horse, has a highly independent nature and loves freedom more than anything in the world. This is why he has such a hard time belonging when young, committing and settling down when an adult. It is not because they dislike serenity, but because they are a merely drainless reservoir of energy which must be spent one way or the other. The epitome of liveliness and excitement, the ever free-wheeling and self-reliant Horses most of the times leave their home at an early age, driven by the ardent desire to discover new territories and experience pretty much all that can possibly be out there, beyond the 'fence' of their parents' house. And indeed such a feverish and hot-tempered individual will always think that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence and he will always be tempted to gallop off towards a more challenging environment than he already lives in.

Individuals born in the year of the Horse make a very agreeable and pleasant company, being blessed with charisma, enthusiasm, and an excellent sense of humor. They are also communicative, outspoken, extrovert and master wonderfully the art of speech, whether this involves telling jokes or delivering a speech on a serious topic in front of a large crowd of people. People born under this sign are among the most jovial and spirited in the Zodiac and their gaiety is contagious, always knowing how to make someone feel good and at ease. Due to their charisma, cheerfulness and easy-going nature, these individuals are very popular and they will always have an army of admirers to follow them anywhere they go. Furthermore, as they are also very fond of going out and having lots of fun, they rarely miss a party, of which they become the soul and heart. Therefore, if you are looking for a spontaneous and buoyant partner, an individual born in the year of the Horse is the most appropriate one!

People born under the sign of the restless and proud Stallion have a razor-sharp intuition and they will always be there when you need them, before you know it or you even had the chance to ask for their help. Along with the Snakes, Horses are known for being blessed with the sixth sense, which allows them to 'feel' a situation and have a quite accurate insight on people.

Expansive spirits, sincere and supportive, warm-hearted and sweet-natured, Horse individuals make excellent friends, as long as one can overlook their swings of moods, stubbornness and their hunger for attention. Indeed, the major flaws of a Horse relate to being moody and whimsical and also to the fact that they always want to be in the focus, to receive all the attention of their friends, partners or of a whole group of people.

Horse people will never lie to anyone, friend or foe, simply because they are genuinely honest, transparent and naive. As weird as it may seem, we should all know that such a childish and gullible individual is very - sometimes foolishly - true and open and could never make use of white lies or dissimulation to achieve something for their own benefit, even if they strove for it. Unlike those born under the sign of the Rabbit or the Snake, the fickle and hot-blooded Horse lacks calm and diplomacy and they are also tactless and generally have a blunt demeanor. Consequently, beware of getting on the nerves of these people, because their proud, stubborn and obstinate nature causes them to become angry and flash fire in an instant.

However, despite their volcanic temper, they calm down as quickly as they bristle, because their anger is nothing but a tempest in a teapot. Their sweet, warm and open nature keeps them from holding grudges against people who upset or do them wrong. Furthermore, they are not envious or jealous of people who are more successful or prosperous than they are, because they find it pointless and ridiculous at the same time to compare themselves with the others.

People born in the year of the Horse are also very impatient and have a very low boredom threshold. Fools for adventures and new challenging experiences, they may want to get out of a happy relationship or leave an undertaking halfway accomplished only because a leap into the unknown seems more appealing to them. Horses should become just a little bit more cautious, as they have a penchant for being too enthusiastic about new situations and they frequently let themselves carried away too easily by the excitement of the moment.

Generally very self-confident, there are - not rare - moments in which one will be surprised to remark that the proud Stallion becomes a man who lacks decision, uncertain and faltering. This amalgam of high-mindedness, even conceitedness and arrogance mixed with moments of low self-esteem and feebleness form a very odd and misleading combination frequently to be met in the personality of a Horse. In fact, this can be simply explained by employing a metaphor of exoskeleton animals and insects, which are therefore hard on the outside but soft and - individuals born under this sign are hesitating, mild natures wrapped up in a rough coating.

When it comes to wits, individuals born under this sign have a very lively mind, though more astute and slick than intelligent. However, despite the fact that they do not possess the cleverness and brightness of the Rat, Dragon or Snake, the drainless energy mixed with the inquisitive mind and curiosity of the Horse make him very appropriate for all jobs which require dynamism and ingenuity. Very gifted individuals, those born in the year of the vivace Stallion are also very good with hands and have refined tastes, consequently they may be equally fitted for any career which involves adroitness and/or artistic skills - being a craftsman would suit a Horse wonderfully, for instance. Furthermore, let us not forget that along with the Ox, the Horse is a very hardworking, tireless person. When he is determined to complete a task - which, sadly, happens rather seldom, as these fickle and quick-tempered people regularly lack ambition - he would work at full stretch and spare no effort until he has carried it out.

However, if we were to make a parallel between the Ox and the Horse, the former is way more likely to attain a more successful career and be in positions of power, simply because he is very persistent and constant, while the latter is a very changeable and unstable individual. As a mater of fact, the pushed-to-extremes fervor and fieriness of people born in the year of the Horse combined with their fondness in adventures and new, challenging experiences makes them veer about like a weather cock, warding off of abiding too long in a place or situation. This is why the frisky individuals born under this sign should learn to mitigate their fervor and continual restlessness or else they are very likely to remain wanderers and adventurers for the rest of their lives. Success and prosperity in life requires keenness and resourcefulness mixed with hard work and energy- and Horse people richly possess these 'gifts'. However, let us not forget that determination and persistence, which most of them lack, are also prerequisite 'ingredients' for the 'recipe of success' in life.

The Horse and Love

Always hungry for attention and looking for a good time, the fickle and energetic Horse is a more-than-agreeable and delightful presence. He likes being in the focus and feels at ease when in large crowds of people - as long as he holds the spotlight. Free-spirited and non-conformist, honest and outgoing, the Horse will never lack friends, dates or lovers. Furthermore, you should consider inviting an individual born under this sign over when lonely, low-spirited or distressed, because he will be pleased to borrow you his pink-lenses glasses by definitely finding the most appropriate method to divert and cheer you up.

Due to the contagious gaiety Horse people possess they make a special and not at all boring partner in a relationship of any kind. However, do not forget that if you are fortunate enough to date active, restless and joyous individuals like these, they are very likely to ask for the same thing in return - if they make you feel great and at ease, always fascinating you with their spontaneity, do not rest on your oars and expect to receive everything from them.

You have to keep the flame burning or else one day - and this day will come before long, trust me! - these impatient, yet charming creatures will find the relationship or situation too monotonous to hang on to and will move on towards the 'greener pastures' of new experiences and adventures. As long as their partners do not 'fuel' the relationship and are not imaginative enough to find ways to incite and inflame this jiggly-wiggly free spirit, sooner or later - and I'd rather go with 'sooner' here - Horses will lose interest in them.

Moreover, do not forget that for a Horse his freedom is the most precious gift of all, the most sacred thing he has on Earth! They would not split it into fragments or give it up for nothing in the world and for no one. Do not try to impose limits or boundaries on an individual born in the year of the Horse, or else he will 'gallop off' towards other pastures they can freely ramble and frolic on.

As hard as they may find it to stick to a long-term relationship and to settle down, once they have found Mr. or Mrs. Right, Horse individuals forget about whatever grain of precaution and wariness that may be deeply hidden within them - though they usually have none - and blindly, almost foolishly plunge into the relationship. When it comes down to love, these otherwise proud and powerful individuals become emotional, weak and even addicted to their significant other, being literally capable of giving up everything for love just like in those maudlin and melodramatic novels or soap operas which appeal to us when young and just a bit too idealistic, dreamy...

A Horse in love loses all sense of logic and becomes irrational and amazingly unpredictable. You will not guess what his next step is going to be, not in a million years! He may just go down to his knees in front of the person he cares for, handing his heart and love on a plate to this special one. However, you still must be cautious, because such individuals are well-known for their restlessness and unsteadiness, which, blended with their innate pushed-to-the-extremes enthusiasm, may cause them to desert even the most solid relationship. Attractive, alluring and sensual, romantic and affectionate, it will be very easy for a Horse to find somebody else, another unique 'soul mate', this is why it does not bother them at all to be married for several times throughout their lives. Exactly like a flash in the pan, such persons get heated and rave about something rapidly, but become bored and the passion will rake out faster than it has started.

Individuals born in the year of the Horse are not at all jealous and possessive, because they also understand the others' need for freedom and they will not restrict their partners' liberty in any way. However, look out because the vigorous and adventurous Horse is a very libertine person and may be unfaithful to you while putting on the most innocent smile, as if nothing has happened. And indeed, the non-conformist and rebellious Horse does not think that being with someone else than their partner is a guilt, especially if the current relationship does not satisfy them any longer. In this case, they feel that the other is to be blamed and it is only natural for them to go seek comfort and pleasure somewhere else, where the grass is greener and the sun shines brighter.

The Stallion is a wild and passionate lover, capable of offering their partners endless, steamy nights in the bedroom. And when it comes down to 'boudoir relations', be sure that the tireless and jittery Horse has resources to keep you up until dawn and fill your nights with fervid and titillating pleasure! And that is not just one night of passion, we are talking here about many and many steamy nights in a row - because the restless Horse is bred for racing and he can kick in the stall until the partner becomes exhausted.

Women born in the year of the Horse are a charming and fascinating mélange of delicacy, softness and sweetness with sensuality, wildness and wanton passion. The elegant, refined and witty Mare makes a wonderful partner for life, except for the fact that she is as unsteady, coltish and impish as her male counterpart. It is extremely difficult to tame this beautiful and charismatic, yet naughty and disobedient creature, because the more you try to restrict its boundaries, the more you will cast her away from you. Never try to impose boundaries to the rebellious Horse, remember?
