Though for many this young lady's life is the one of a struggler, who had to work hard to get to where she is now, for the most of us (the ignorants, that is), this is yet another one of those stories about the sibling of a celebrity who desperately tries to be in the spotlight. And no matter how successful she is, or how many fans she has, I'm afraid poor Dannii is forever doomed to be Kylie's little sis. But let's just take a little time and see whether we have preconceptions and this woman possesses in fact talent. Because when it comes to her beauty, you can't overlook both her natural looks and her slightly artificially altered qualities (yes I'm talking here about two huuuge assets).

So, the girl who was eventually going to become a gay icon and a Playboy model was born on the 20th of October, 1971 in Melbourne, Australia and is the youngest of three children. She was only 7-years-old when her fresh face landed her some minor roles in soap operas. Because, you see, it seems that in Australia, on your way to stardom you MUST star in these TV shows, since every single native actor seems to have done that at some point (Naomi Watts, Keith Ledger, Natalie Imbruglia and the list goes on). But the role that really changed her career was that of a rebellious teenager in the popular soap 'Home And Away'. After only one year she left the show and became very interested in designing clothes so in 1988, she released her own fashion line dubbed Dannii. Well, it's up to you to decide whether she has an inborn fashion sense - some argue that back in those days she used to dress as Boy George's evil twin sister. But then again, who are we to judge? I bet you're not proud either of your 80s clothes.

Although I have been truly surprised by this thing, it seems that Dannii's first album, 'Love and Kisses' was quite successful - it was a top ten hit. Well, it seems that she was an appreciated artist and was not just Kylie's voluptuous sister. But this didn't last long, since her sophomore record - the 1993 'Get Into You' - was poorly received. At that time she had already given a chance to acting in a movie - which again failed to impress the public.

So what does a pretty girl like that do when her career seems to take a dangerous path? Well, she does something less soliciting - she takes up a job as a TV show host. The advantages are endless and you don't even have to possess any special talent like singing or acting. You just have to talk, look pretty and say a few jokes or whatever it is that they do and the best part is that you're still in the limelight. So, by 1997, she was already regaining her fan-base and naturally, she recorded a new album, the much more club-oriented 'Girl'. The record was received with mixed criticism, or, to put it differently, it didn't completely suck and the single 'All I Wanna Do' was fairly successful, as opposed to the other releases.

However, at some point, Dannii proved to be a mastermind in terms of marketing and featured some drag queens in one of her videos. So, naturally, the gay community became very much infatuated with the disco queen and probably that's one of the reasons why her career didn't abruptly come to an end. Or maybe it's because she is truly talented (or, the striking mirror image of her sister). Guess this mystery will never be elucidated. As I was carefully researching her life and accomplishments I was quite pleased to find out that Dannii did in fact succeed to change our lives with yet another successful single (what?, 3 hits already?) - the catchy 'Who Do You Love Now?'. Well, I can see why this was successful - it's the kind of tune that you listen by mistake and three days afterwards, it still rings in your ears.

But by now, you'd probably like to read about her juicy life - because a hot vixen like that has surely enjoyed life to the maximum. The 5'2'' singer/designer/reality show host was once married for almost two years but unfortunately, it didn't work and she later commented that the divorce from Julian McMahon was her 'biggest regret and biggest downfall'. After that, most of the women would probably get a new hairdo but not a celebrity. So, why dye your hair when you can pose for Playboy and spite your ex? Well, Dannii did exactly that and that issue of Heff's magazine became one of Australia's bestsellers. Other relationships followed but they didn't work out, so guys, she's still on the market.

What makes her a really special person is the fact that she's very involved in raising AIDS awareness amongst the youngsters. Plus, she's so cool for being a gay icon and the fact that she's a renowned supporter of gay rights has helped people everywhere.
