There's something about a lit fireplace that gives you a feeling of peace, of comfort and serenity. Why not bring these feelings closer by adding a fireplace in your very own home? Did you ever give it a thought? It might not be as difficult as you think.
Choosing the right fireplace for your home is not a very demanding task. House owners will find it a little bit easier to purchase one of these products and also have a wider variety of models to work with. That's because in a house you are only limited by your own imagination and resources, whereas in a flat or condo, you can't exactly let your imagination run wild.
For most people there's nothing better than the look, feel and smell of a classic wood-burning fireplace. A very important segment of the market is actually made up of this kind of fireplaces, but in choosing your own you should take into consideration other options, based on costs of implementation and installation and costs of maintenance. If it's heat you want, you should go with a more modern, closed-system gas burning fireplace (apart from being more efficient, they are also cleaner). But for those of you that are in search of a particular atmosphere, an open fireplace is perfect if you don't mind the heat loss (just imagine the crackling sound, faint burnt wood smell and visual appeal of a burning log). These don't provide a tempered glass door to obstruct the view.
Gas fireplaces are the more comfortable choice if you don't want the fuss of burning wood in your home. Another advantage is that they turn on instantly (for those moments that just can't wait) which means you don't have to painstakingly built a small fire and then wait around until it grows. It's ideal for people on the go. They might also prove an excellent choice for those of you who live in a community building (the "room-vented" models), not to mention the fact that they are safer (no special safety measures have to be taken like in the case of a wood-burning stove or fireplace).
Whatever your choice is going to be, you have to understand that a fireplace requires some maintenance (especially the wood-burning models) not to mention some basic operating skills (again, more complex with the wood-fueled models). That being said, nothing else should prevent you from bringing the magic and warmth of an open-flame fire into your home.
