Some people will say that they saw this coming a mile away and, seriously speaking, their relation always seemed a little too good to be true, a little too perfect, not to mention the huge shadow that Tom's Scientology beliefs cast on the whole thing. Several gossip magazines claim that actress Katie Holmes is seeking separation and, possibly, even divorce from fellow actor and Scientology guru Tom Cruise.

The couple have a baby girl together, the very lovely Suri Cruise, who, after Brad Pitt's and Angelina Jolie's baby, Shiloh, is probably the most famous toddler in the world. Up until now there has been no hint about something going wrong with the Holmes-Cruise marriage, but Katie has been looking a little thinner than her usual self lately and even a bit aged, all which culminated with her almost fainting outside of a restaurant. Even her career has been affected, her latest movie “Mad Money” in which she stars alongside Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah has been met by generally negative reviews.

Now, sources inside the couple claim Katie is tired with the pressure the marriage has been putting on her and is seeking to break free of Tom. On top of that, she wants to take Suri with her. Naturally, Tom doesn't see things in the same way and from here it's easy to see where things are going: a long and bitter divorce. The nail in the coffin might be a role on Broadway that Katie was offered and which she wanted to pursue, but Tom wasn't to happy with her leaving the family home in Los Angeles, especially when that means taking Suri with her.

Star magazine has an insider that claims: “She desperately needs to be on her own for a while, but there's no way Tom is going to let her take Suri away. He told her that if she goes to New York, fine, but he goes with her.” Tom's overprotectiveness when it comes to Suri seems to involve him taking all the decisions, leaving Katie, the mother, outside of her daughter's life.

It's a long stretch from the overjoyed Tom who used to confess his undying love for Kate at the Oprah show, jumping on couches and stunning everyone with his childish behavior.
