Oprah has seen her fair share of ups and downs and this for her should be just another notch on her belt. The National Enquirer has pictures of her gracing this week's issue cover and the title written in yellow, bold font (the underlining seems a tad too much) is that she's 246 pounds heavy. That's quite a stretch from the 146 pounds she used to sport around, dazzling every plump woman alive.
The magazine blames the explosive weight gain on her split from Stedman Graham with whom she's been together since 1986 and supposed to marry in 1992 but consensually agreed to keep it a spiritual relation. Also, the constant campaigning for Obama seems to have taken its toll on her figure with all the fast food she eats. All of these things coupled, are making Oprah indulge in the little pleasures in life and up to this point they all seemed to be deep fried and/or smothered in chocolate.
The split from long time partner Stedman seems to be the one thing that's brought her down the most. That is because, according to the same magazine, he confessed to her after a long, heart-felt discussion that he never really loved her. For him it was more like a friendship rather than an amorous relation and upon hearing this Oprah plunged into depression. Stedman further twisted the knife in the wound by adding that if he had truly loved Oprah he would have married her back in 1992 as they had planned. The information comes from a friend of Oprah's who spoke to the magazine.
The story continues with Oprah realizing that the cold truth is better than a warm lie and with her dealing with the problem and focusing on work, which right now is the campaign for Barack Obama. That means that food habits took a back seat and that fast food came into play. And that's what caused the 26 added pounds to her weight in just two months.
The big deal with Oprah's weight is that some years ago she stunned everyone by slimming down a whole lot. Also, she has publicly admitted that the reason why she got fat in the first place was due to emotional problems with men. The print edition of the National Enquirer hits newsstands on March 31st.
