You may stay away from them but will they stay away from you?
I haven't seen a good suspense-horror movie in quite a while now but my sadness caused by former poor film productions will be soon dispelled by the upcoming flick "The Strangers". Starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, the film follows the life of a happy couple as it faces sudden obliteration when their home is invaded by strangers one night. What's truly frightful is that the film is inspired by real events that occurred in the Hoyt family's vacation home at 1801 Clark Road on February 11, 2005 and that what happened on that particular night is still not entirely known.
Thus, writer and director Bryan Bertino took on the task of reconstructing the events with a twist in what appears to be a magnificent suspense-loaded film. The best part until now is that Rogue Pictures has just released an official trailer for the film due on May 30th, that you can of course check below but don't do it unless you're alone in a remote area and have weak locks on your doors. Seriously, the trailer gave me a fright-slap that I have throughly enjoyed and I can only imagine what the whole film will deliver, especially that it looks like the type of movie that doesn't rely solely on dialogue but in which non-verbal acting plays a vital part as well.
From what I've seen so far, Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman's performances are convincingly real and definitely have the potential of striking panic and desperation in the audience. The mysterious masked characters that terrorize the two are beyond creepy as their masks look as if they were made out of porcelain and they are shown skilfully creeping behind the unsuspecting victims and appear where least expected. I particularly enjoyed the two lines near the trailer's ending in which the strangers are asked to justify their horrible deeds and the response comes as simple and as twisted and sharp as a shovel striking a soft spot, "Because you were home". So go ahead, lock the doors and assume you're safe before viewing the trailer below. I also recommend that you visit the movie's official Website as well. It's slightly terrifying!
