It is time now once again to admit that we are not perfect. Yes, ladies, say it and say it out loud without any trace of shame or timidity - even though our looks may be dazzling, our body when looked at naked in the mirror is not perfect. There is always that tiny and annoying detail that keeps it from being perfect. However, this should not stop us from being fully self-confident and seeing ourselves as great-looking. Because if we have style in everything we do, then we have it all and there is no way in the world you could argue with me on that. Now, just because I know there are quite a lot of ladies out there who are not too satisfied with their torso as it is too short, today we are going to focus on this topic and find out how to dress it appropriately. Below we will look at a few simple guidelines that, if respected, will definitely turn a short torso into a long and graceful one.
The tops you wear play a crucial role in the overall appearance of your torso, this is why you should really bear in mind a few rules you have to keep to when it comes to choosing your tees, blouses etc. First and foremost, do not forget that any clothing item for the upper body that hits at your belly button (also known as your natural waistline) is not going to work for you. On the contrary, it is going to shorten even more your torso. What you should do instead is pick tops that go at least a few inches below your natural waist and a few inches above the hips. This is definitely going to elongate your torso.
Also, let us not forget about the neckline a top should have, because this is crucial too. Any neckline that goes vertically - such as the so popular and alluring V-neck - is going to work great for your figure. On the other hand, any horizontal neckline - such as square or boat necklines - is not fit for you because it accentuates the shortness of your torso, therefore make sure you give a wide berth to these. And as we are talking vertical and horizontal lines, do not forget that vertical stripes on any garment elongate the figure, while horizontal stripes make it look smaller.
Sleeves are also important when it comes to concealing a short torso and make it look longer and more graceful. Short sleeves are not in your favor, therefore make anything possible to avoid them. What you need to be looking for are three-quarters or full-length sleeves that will pull the eye down and will visibly elongate your torso. Also, look for fitted, but not skin-tight sleeves and avoid too baggy ones. Fitted sleeves with a tad of flare at the wrist may work great for you, while puffed ones or those with too many details may transform your appearance into a complete fiasco.
Stay tuned because tomorrow we are going to find out more about the garments that work great in elongating a short torso!
